Quinoa! Quinoa is super nutritious but many people don’t get to enjoy it as much as they could because they can have a bitter after taste if it isn’t cooked properly. So today I am going to show you my tips to learn how to prepare quinoa so it is just as delicious as it is healthy. So we are going to start with our dry quinoa. I like to use Bob’s Red Mill Quinoa because their products are always high quality and natural. And I also noticed recently that you can get coupons for their products just by going to their homepage. How to Cook Quinoa
Which is pretty sweet. Pour your dry quinoa into a fine mesh strainer and rinse thoroughly in the sink. The water should run clear. It is always a good idea to rinse your quinoa to remove any of the bitter coating. Thumbs up for tips and tricks. Add your quinoa to a pot over the stove and turn the heat to medium low. You are going to let the quinoa toast for just about five minutes. Now this is the step that will eliminate those bitter flavors.
And it will make your quinoa have a delicious and beautiful nutty taste. Then we will cook our quinoa by adding our water or broth as a lovely flavor. Sprinkle in a little bit of salt and turn the heat up to medium high. Once it reaches a boil you can cover, turn down the heat and let it simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes. Your quinoa is pretty much done at this point but it is a good idea to remove it from the heat, leave the lid on and let it sit for about five more minutes.
And then floof it with a fork and you’re ready to go. So yummy and versatile and bitter free. Serve your quinoa in a cold salad or as a pasta or rice substitute in warm dishes.
