howdy folks my name is Richie aka bog otter and welcome to another video designed to help Guild Wars 2 boomerangs what's a guild wars 2 boomerang well it's somebody who has played the game in the past has taken a break of varying lengths and is now returning and trying to get up to speed on what they missed this is actually the fourth in a series of Guild Wars 2 boomerang videos that I have done so depending on when you left the game it depends on how much you have to catch up on the last time I did a boomerang video that was generic covered the events between launch and September 2013 this video is gonna cover just the really big gigantic changes from September 2013 on 2 April feature pack in 2014 so if your returning to the game after a lengthy break one of the things you might be asking yourself is what the heck happened to lion's arch I know it's a lot to take in well lion's arch was destroyed you can see here this was where the mystic Forge was over here that bit building back there was the bank and often the distance over this way was the Trading Post well ArenaNet actually destroyed one of their main capital cities as part of the living world season one story arc the villain scarlet briar actually led an attack on lion's arch and players fended off this army but the damage has been done it does look like that players will have a chance to start rebuilding lions arts come the festival of the Four Winds patch on May 20th so what do you do now if you want to get all of your business transactions done and vendors and mystic forage and trading posts well if you look at the zone to the north of lions arch this is Gandhara fields there is a temporary outpost set up at the vigil keep if we go there I can show you what kind of amenities we have available here we are at the vigil keep Waypoint you can see there is a lot going on here you have the Asura gates you have a banker a commander potato no that's not who we want we have a guild banker we have Trading Post over here so a lot of the things that you need for a major town are he now the things that are lacking are there are no crafting stations there's no Laurel vendor and there's no clash trainers here you can get those things at any of the other major cities but from right now this is our home away from home while players actually congregate in mass to actually do all of their daily transactions now if you're over the shock of losing lion's arch let's talk about the big features that came in the April 2014 feature pack the feature pack uh sure did an assortment of precious features that alter the way the game is played some of these features have a high impact but are simple to explain for example repairing your armor and weapons no longer cost any gold to encourage experimentation with different builds you can now reset your traits and respect your character any time you're out of combat yes lastly many of the things you earn have now become a count bound to encourage you to enjoy the game with any character you want world versus world experience points legendary weapons ascended gear and dyes are now account bound now as a side note unidentified dyes will no longer drop off creatures in the world you can still get them on laural vendors though they're more expensive you can also snag dyes from the gem store Black Lion chests the mystic forge or from other players on the training post that about covers the quick and easy changes from the feature pack any questions I have a question that fool he-man okay what's your question what about feature pack changes that are too complicated for that fool he-man I'm getting to those changes and why do you end every sentence with that fool he-man you know what never mind ArenaNet has rewarded players since launch with many different weapon and armor skins for completing their living world content but if you were like me you'd collect these items and they'd start to clog up your bank tabs after all you can only wear one back item at a time enter the wardrobe system when you first return to the game make sure you log in on all your characters so their items are added to your wardrobe then go to the PvP Lobby in the mists and any skins in your PvP Locker will also be added to your wardrobe that's right the items you've earned in PvP can now be used in PvE and vice versa you can now unlock new skins that you find by equipping them salvaging them or destroying them you can also right-click an item and click on the unlock skin to check to see if an item is unlocked on your account just hover your cursor over the item and check to see if the tooltip says locked or unlocked the wardrobe system is an account bound feature that allows you to access all of the skins that you have unlocked across your account so this way you can mix and match different outfits and see what they look like on your character to access your wardrobe hit h to access your hero panel go up to the top tab that says equipment and then click wardrobe now you can click on any of your gear slots and feel free to scroll through the skins that you've unlocked now none of these changes will take place until you click apply so you can feel free to mix and match and craft your perfect look you can also click on the die tab and apply new colors to the outfit that you made once you have crafted your masterpiece outfit you will see that there is a cost here for applying these changes now these are transmutation charges the cost for switching the look of an item is usually one transportation charge per item changed some items such as those that you unlocked with achievements or the heritage set from the Hall of monuments are free to transform to anytime transportation charges have replaced the old transmutation stones and if you have any of these transportation stones in your inventory you can click them to convert them to transportation charges anywhere where you previously found transmutation stones like doing map completion or sometimes in dailies you can actually get transmutation charges now instead if you're running low on transmutation charges you can always pick them up in your friendly neighborhood gem store now as part of the wardrobe change town clothes are now something you can use in combat many of the town closed sets that were available before have been converted into what's called outfits so I can go over here into my wardrobe I can click on my outfit tab here and you can see the executioner outfit is a single piece thing there you can't put on these items piecemeal but I do have a couple different outfits that I have unlocked and I can use these in combat now and you still can't apply dyes to them there are some town clothing that they have converted to tonics instead of outfits and these you can click to transform into that look at any time but they cannot be used in combat so here's my common or clothing and my riding clothes for example another cool thing about the wardrobe is if you head over to your bank you will see this wardrobe storage item here this will show you kind of like the PvP locker of old this will show you all the skins that are in the game currently and which ones you've unlocked so for anyone who is a hardcore collector this is the place to go to see what are the skins that you're missing and you can kind of look up and you can even right-click and preview all of the ones and create different outfits so it's a really great way to figure out a way to make your character look unique and then seek out the pieces that you're missing another big change from the feature pack was the rollout of mega servers you will now see many more players roaming around teria even in the less popular lower level zones that's because the game no longer spawns a separate instance of a zone for each home server put simply instead of having 24 instances of harathi hinterlands one for each of the North American servers now there might only be one or two instances available of descent or infested lands and all the players that are in that zone will be in one of these two instances when you travel to a new zone the mega server dynamically assigns you to a particular instance based on numerous factors including where your group members friends and guild mates are your homeworld designation and default language if the system doesn't assign you to the same zone as your group simply right-click one of the portraits of your group members and select the join in zone option while this certainly makes the game feel more alive there are a few side effects to be aware of first all world bosses now spawn at specific times on a set schedule across all instances of a particular zone to help guild schedule these encounters certain mega bosses like the Karka queen – quaddle and great jungle worm can now be spawned on demand by gilts who buy the new guild world event unlock upgrade oh and by the way there's a new world boss called the great jungle worm secondly anyway point in the world that has the potential to be contested will appear as contested until you actually travel to that zone once you're in the zone then you can check to see if that waypoint is really contested and if it's not you can use it the reason for this is that fool he-man yes it's he men's fault the last point I'll mention on mega servers is that they plan on making Gil completely cross-server instead of having separate chapters of a guild with separate influence pools but we don't have an ETA on when that will be implemented yet the feature pack also changed the way bonus crit damage works there's a new staff called ferocity which relates to critical hit damage the same way that precision related to critical hit chance the overall impact is a nerf to crit damage which used to be a flat percentage in addition armor runes and weapon signals have been completely overhauled so make sure you check out all of the new options for your builds two-handed weapons can now be slotted with two sigils to balance them with dual wielded weapon sets do wielded weapon sets dual wielded weapons that's hard to say also all sigil recharges are now separate so you can trigger your sigil of energy by swapping weapon sets and right afterwards your sigil fire can still trigger on a critical hit sigils of the same type however will still not work in conjunction returning players might notice that traits are completely different they have condensed raid points so five of the old points is worth one point in the new system so at level 80 you will have fourteen points to assign instead of 70 but each one boosts the appropriate stats significantly and unlocks either a minor or a major trait in addition each profession has five new Grand Master traits they can unlock by performing certain tasks in the game for example you may be tasked with defeating the risen high wizard in the Kirsch or to unlock your new trait it's a throwback to skill capping in the original Guild Wars but don't worry if this doesn't appeal to you you can visit your profession trainer and spend golden skill points to unlock your new traits brand new characters can unlock all of their traits using this new task system if they prefer and don't forget traits can now be reset any time you're out of combat simply by going to your trade panel and while we're talking about builds and traits check out your skills page every profession has access to two new healing skills one of them antitoxin spray is our first skill that is available to all professions while many of these new healing skills may not be overly impactful it certainly opens the door for more additions like this in the future the last major change that I'm going to cover in this video is crafting ascended weapons and armor most of the crafting disciplines can now be raised up to level 500 when you reach this new cap you can craft ascended level gear this gear is expensive to craft but has better stats than exotic items and as compound and shareable with your other characters ascendant gear can also be found inside ascended chests which are rare drops in the fractal the mists champion loot bags certain world bosses and reward chests from guild missions well that's gonna wrap up another episode of the Guild Wars 2 boomerangs guide for returning players if you enjoyed this video I'd appreciate you hitting that like button favoriting the video and sharing it with your friends you can also click on the other Guild Wars – boomerang videos I have them
